All of us anxiously await the iPhone 5 release. Call it the iPhone 4S if you want, apparently that's a name which has gone viral on the internet, there's just no official word yet as to when Apple plans to release iPhone 5.

While we've to wait until we get iPhone 5 release details, it is being speculated that the iPhone 5 will support all carriers in the United States. AT&T which had exclusivity ever since the original iPhone came out in 2007, lost it to Verizon iPhone 4 earlier this year. Now does Apple plan to release iPhone 5 with support for all US carriers?

Apart from the usual slew of rumoured iPhone 5 specifications which include a dual-core A5 processor, 8 or 12 megapixel camera, larger screen and a design similar to the iPhone 4, wouldn't it be nice to have an iPhone that won't require you to choose a carrier that you don't have to be hooked to for that long contract period?

What would make an iPhone that supports all carriers possible? Well, it is believed that the iPhone 5 will come with a Qualcomm Gobi chipset which has the ability to work on both CDMA and GSM networks read: Verizon and AT&T. That leaves two carriers behind, Sprint and T-Mobile USA. About a month ago, AT&T acquired T-Mobile USA and while the latter had clarified that they weren't going to get the iPhone any time soon, conflicting reports are already up on the internet. It is being said that T-Mobile USA is internally testing the iPhone. Also, with AT&T buying T-Mobile USA, there's a high probability that at the iPhone 5 release, Apple will definitely add T-Mobile to the list of carriers.

Apple will also add support for Verizon's CDMA network in iPhone 5. Sprint, which also happens to run on the CDMA network, can technically be supported as well. Doesn't this make it all the more easier for Apple to include all US networks?

Apple's iPhone release cycle is actually in June, however it has been said that Apple will release iPhone 5 in September. Why the extra three months? Could the iPhone 5 release delay be because of the fact that Apple is penning down contracts with all US networks while working on perfecting the iPhone 5 antenna system to support all of the networks? That, time will tell.
