We all love Cydia. It lets us do fantastic things with our devices through fantastic apps and tweaks that Apple wouldn't approve for inclusion on their app store. While Cydia serves as a perfect alternative to the App Store, ever thought of an alternative to Cydia? Icy for jailbroken iPhones, iPads and iPod touches was launched way back in the days of iOS 3.1.3 and can be thought of as the more visually appealing download service. Development on Icy halted back then, but now it is good to know that Icy is back once again with a beta version available for download today!
The great part is that Icy now works on iOS versions up to 4.3.2. There are some noticeable cosmetic change, but nonetheless, Icy is still the same.
We've had our hands-on time with Icy on a jailbroken fourth-generation iPod touch running iOS 4.3.2. Bear in mind that this was the beta version we test and there we some glitches that were encountered. Icy crashed on us a couple of times before we could actually start doing something on it. Sometimes, Icy would just freeze and wouldn't respond to any taps. We expect that all of these glitches will be taken care of when Icy is made available for download next week.
If you can't really wait to try Icy out for yourself, simply add the following repository: http://repo.ispazio.net in Cydia and search for Icy. You will be able to download a beta version as of now.
Of course, for Icy to work, you need to jailbreak your device. Our detailed tutorials will help you jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod touch easily.
