We love Cydia, we all do. However, there is always room for competition, or rather alternatives. We've already covered a recently redeveloped Cydia alternative named Icy. This new Cydia alternative that we're covering today, is a bit different. Lima, as it is called, is a browser based Cydia alternative for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Being developed by the Infini Dev Team, the same guys who're also reviving Icy, seems to be a nice alternative to Cydia. Recently, when Amazon's EC2 servers went down, Cydia remained inaccessible for quite sometime. The fact remains that there is need for alternatives to Cydia, however they have to meet very high standards set by the latter.
Lima is actually a browser-based dpkg installer for jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and there won't be a Home scree icon for Lima. All you have to do is visit a website in safari and you have a fully functional package installer, which is compatible even with the iPad and up to iOS 4.3.2.
In the video that has been uploaded by the Infini Dev Team, you can see for yourself that Lima is actually faster than both Icy and Cydia. Also, Lima removes the necessity of installing any utility to access your favorite jailbreak tweaks and apps. We think that Lima has a lot of potential and may become popular when v1.4.8 is released soon.
