Earlier this week, we reported that the creator of Cydia, Jay Freeman a.k.a Saurik had told everyone why you should jailbreak iPhone in an interview. Turns out, Google owned YouTube has removed that particular video because its "content violated YouTube's Terms of Service." In this post, we'll try to find out the reason behind the removal of this video.
One thing is for sure though. There's no possibility that this video may have been removed at the behest of Apple, even though we know that the Cupertinos have for long waged a battle against jailbreakers. Robert Scoble, the interviewer, says that he received no intimation from YouTube that the video he uploaded has been removed. He believes that the video may have been deleted for the fact that a phone number comes up on the device once, and that could possibly have been the violation of YouTube Terms of Service.
There is also no doubt that this video had become popular in the few days it was up on YouTube. People were anxious to hear from the creator of Cydia himself what he primarily believed to be the reason behind why you should jailbreak iPhone.
One the other hand, Italian blog iSpazio has re-uploaded the interview on YouTube in which the part where the phone number comes up, has been cut. It remains to be seen whether or not YouTube will remove this video as well. If it doesn't, then we'll be sure that the only reason YouTube pulled this video, was because of a phone number being displayed. Video embedded below:
