We would have liked leaks sooner. Nevertheless, apparently this leaked image shows off what might possibly be iOS 5. We're still approximately six hours away from the keynote at WWDC 2011, where CEO Steve Jobs will finally unveil iOS 5 along with Mac OS X Lion and iCloud.
One of the basic flaws in iOS 4 was the notification system. Users greatly disliked it. So one of the major expectations from iOS 5 on everybody's list is a new notification system. We can expect a good one, considering the developer of MobileNotifier - a tweak which fixes iOS notification system, has been hired by Apple.
Word is that Apple will be giving developers access to the initial build of iOS 5, so that they can get their apps ready. Those who might have seen the next generation iOS firmware, claim deeply baked Twitter integration, widgets and an entirely new notification system for iOS 5.
As you can see from the picture above, the status bar is showing notifications. Its not known what sort of gesture will bring up all notifications in detail. However, its quite reminiscent of the notification system on Android smartphones. Nothing can be said for sure now. Notifications may be color coded, with the status bar showing different colors for different types of notifications.
We can't be sure whether or not this is a fake. Let's just keep counting hours until Steve Jobs takes the stage to make announcements which just might change everything, again.
BTW: Here's how you can watch WWDC 2011 online.
