This was fast. Not even 24 hours have passed since the beta 1 of iOS 5 was seeded to developers and it has already been jailbroken. MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has jailbroken iOS 5 beta 1 using the limera1n exploit. Tethered boot applies.
MuscleNerd has tweeted minutes earlier that he has managed to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 1 on his fourth generation iPod touch using the existing Limera1n exploit. Previously, he had explained that it was possible to jailbreak iOS 5.
iOS5 jailbroken on ipt4g: http://is.gd/7GxIcK http://is.gd/BwPvfh via limera1n + tethered boot..not too many surprises
If you thought this couldn't get any better, it does. Even Cydia is working on jailbroken iOS 5 beta 1. See this:
Currently, iOS 5 beta 1 jailbreak requires a tethered boot. However, Apple is likely to leave the untethered jailbreak exploit unpatched till it seeds beta 2 or beta 3 of iOS 5. More updates on iOS 5 beta 1 untethered jailbreak will come in once Stefan Esser has a look in to it.
iOS 5 beta 1 jailbreak will be compatible with iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 3G, 4G and Apple TV 2G. Basically all those devices which are vulnerable to the Limera1n exploit. Since the iPad 2 is not vulnerable to that, forget about an iPad 2 iOS 5 jailbreak.
More updates on iOS 5 jailbreak as they come in, keeping checking iPhoneism.com!
