A few hours back, Apple released iOS 5 beta 2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Obviously, the first question in our minds was whether or not it was possible to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2, tethered for now as we know no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 beta exists. It turns out that it is indeed possible to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2, using the very same version of redsn0w that was released to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 1.
When iOS 5 beta 2 was released and the obvious question started flowing around, MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team tweeted an answer:
5.0b2 can be jailbroken w/redsn0w from 2 wks ago http://is.gd/6eek4Y (must point redsn0w at 5.0b1 IPSW)..devs ONLY please
So the process to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2 is similar to the process required for jailbreaking iOS 5 beta 1. You just have to point redsn0w to iOS 5 beta 1 IPSW when it prompts you, and NOT the iOS 5 beta 2 IPSW. That is all you need to do in order to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 5 beta 2. Before you start jailbreaking it, first get the UDID of your device registered.
Also note that current version of Sn0wbreeze will not jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2. Those wanting to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 2 using Sn0wbreeze will have to wait for an update.
