A couple of hours back, Apple seeded the third beta of iOS 5. Many had been predicting that Apple would make iOS 5 beta 3 download for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch available today, and indeed the company has seeded the third pre-release beta today.
Back on June 25th that Apple released iOS 5 beta 2 for developers, and we quickly provided download links for all of you to try out iOS 5 beta 2 on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Developers enrolled with Apple in the Developer Program can get their hands on iOS 5 beta 3 ipsws right now, whereas non-developers will have to wait until all the ipsws are manually downloaded and then re-uploaded to file sharing sites. Previously, iOS 5 beta 1 was seeded to developers on June 6th, at WWDC 2011 where it was announced. iOS 5 brings amongst a slew of other features, a brand new notification center, iCloud and Apple’s new cross-device messaging platform iMessage.
If you've jailbroken any one of both previous iOS 5 betas on your iOS device, please refrain from upgrading to iOS 5 beta 3 at the moment, as it is still not yet known whether or not you can jailbreak iOS 5 beta 3 using the current beta versions of redsn0w and sn0wbreeze. iPad 2 users should definitely refrain from upgrading to any iOS 5 beta for that matter, because if you need a jailbreak for iPad 2, you'll have to make do with iOS 4.3.3 at the moment, as iPad 2 jailbreak is only supported on 4.3.3.
As usual, this third pre-release iOS beta for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Apple TV comes with a host of bug fixes, stability and performance improvements and the most sought after fix, the improvement in battery life, as many of our readers running iOS 5 beta 2 have complained of fast battery drainage.
So if you are enrolled in the iPhone Developer Program, which costs $99 per annum, you can get your hands on iOS 5 beta 3 right now. If you are not a developer and install iOS 5 beta through workarounds, its better that you wait until another workaround for iOS 5 beta 3 surfaces, before you upgrade to it. Or you might as well submit a request for free UDID activation of your iOS device, so that it runs iOS 5 beta 3, without any glitches.
