Leaked iPhone 4GS pictures, alleged pictures that is, have been making the rounds on the internet and have now caught our attention. The site that first posted these images claims them to be of the iPhone 4GS, a prototype that is undergoing testing as of now.

These images were originally posted by a Weibo user. Weibo is China's alternative to the micro-blogging site called Twitter. We've had enough next generation iPhone rumours coming in from China, though nothing about their legitimacy can be said as of now.

These leaked iPhone 4GS pictures, originally discovered by Apple.pro show that the device is indeed running test firmware that we know is legit as we have seen the very same software running on previous devices as well. Though it looks like the iPhone 4GS has no design changes because it looks almost identical to the iPhone 4.

Though something's definitely amiss here. When this particular device is connected to iTunes, the thumbnail shown is of the first generation iPod touch which is a bit odd. While we still can't be sure that this is legit or not, the test software makes us believe that maybe this is the real deal. Why iTunes doesn't show an iPhone when this device is connected, we fail to understand but it may be possible that this device is a prototype and may not actually be released to public, probably in Fall 2011. It has been rumored that Apple will push back the September launch of the new iPod lineup and will release the next generation iPhone. Fingers crossed for that!

Apart from this, it has been claimed that this prototype boasts a dual-core A5 processor, similar to what we have in the iPad 2, a 5 megapixel camera and support for T-Mobile USA's network. Previously rumors have suggested that the next generation iPhone is going to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. It may very well have a bigger screen and its obviously going to be running the brand new iOS 5.

Needless to say, we're all really excited about the next-generation iPhone. Let's just hope Apple comes out with the juicy details first before the rumor mill drives us crazy.
