Notcom has updated TinyUmbrella for Windows and Mac. Bringing the version number up to 5.00.07, TinyUmbrella now allows you to save iOS 4.3.5 SHSH blobs of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. That's not all, TinyUmbrella's latest update also allows you to upgrade iPhone 4 baseband, should you ever want to.
If you are unaware of the importance of TinyUmbrella, you obviously won't be aware of the importance of saving SHSH blobs, especially if you want to retain jailbreak on any particular firmware. SHSH blobs are saved in order to downgrade iOS to any older version. Also as downgrading from iOS 5 is not going to be possible it is imperative that you save iOS 4.3.x SHSH blobs.
Using the latest version of TinyUmbrella, you can also choose whether or not you want to upgrade iPhone 4 baseband. However, the developer has issued a set of warnings that you must read before you go on to play with the new feature.
- Ensure that the firmware you want to restore to and the most recent firmware that Apple is signing have the same basebands. Its essential for both to have the same baseband. Baseband upgrade won't work if it isn't a match. iTunes will throw error 10xx and you will also have to use fixrecovery. Keep in mind that iPad 2 baseband upgrade isn't supported, only the iPhone 4.
- Don't check the box if you have no idea of what you are doing as it is going to upgrade your baseband. If you upgrade iPhone 4 to higher baseband by mistake, please note that no software unlock is available for higher basebands and you will NOT be able to use cellular services on your iPhone 4 any more.
- The UPDATE iPHONE 4 BASEBAND setting isn't saved by default. You will have to check that every single time you run TinyUmbrella if you want to restore while updating or restoring your iPhone 4 baseband.
