Reports indicate that 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5 SKUs have appeared in a Korean carrier's system. KT, the carrier in question here, seems to have place holding listings in its system for the next generation iPhone in 16 and 32GB flavours.
The source claims that they have heard from two independent tipsters that Korea Telecom, or KT, has added the iPhone 5 in their internal system. Last week, word was floating on the internet that some carriers in Europe had also added the next generation iPhone in their systems and now it seems like KT has followed suit. It is possible for the carriers to be in the loop of when Apple decides to release the iPhone 5, as Switzerland's Swisscomm will sell iPhone 5 from October 5, or at least that's what we have heard.
Internally, Korea Telecom is referring to these SKUs as AIP5, which unmistakeably means the Apple iPhone 5. Why unmistakeably? Because the iPhone 4 in their system was referred to as the AIP4. However, those who have been wishing for an iPhone that offers greater storage might not be pleased as these SKUs currently only reflect 16 and 32GB iPhone 5 flavours, but we did mention earlier these place holder listings don't necessarily mean that we won't see an iPhone with more storage. The third SKU doesn't hint at a third iPhone model, its just listing for unlocked iPhone users.
Up till now, there has been no official word from Apple on the status of the iPhone 5, its features or its release dates. We know that it will come bearing that dual core A5 processor along with more RAM. There are going to be a number of cosmetic changes, as suggested by an Apple employee carrying iPhone 5 on the subway. Its going to be thin, tapered and possibly with a bigger screen.
We don't know as yet for sure what the iPhone 5 can be and what it can't be. What we know for sure is that a release is definitely coming soon as its high time for Apple to push out a new iPhone in the market or risk losing share to Android competitors with better hardware specifications.
