According to an entirely new report which contradicts a dozen previous reports, it is claimed that the iPhone 5 USA release will happen in October and not in September as previously indicated by many reports from many different sources.
This time, its John Paczkowski of All Things D citing people familiar with Apple's plans. He claims that regardless of the fact that the next generation iPhone may be branded as the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5, its still going to release in October and all previous reports claiming a September release are, to put it delicately, hogwash. So let's let him do the talking:
So those rumors claiming the iPhone 5 will debut in late September? They’re wrong.
Instead, it’s going to be an October surprise — the month in which Apple will be launching its next generation iPhone.
Sources with knowledge of the situation say reports claiming AT&T has blacked out employee vacations during the last two weeks of September in preparation for the retail debut of the next iPhone are misinformed.
“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” a source familiar with Apple’s plans said.
So, when can we expect the company to uncrate the iPhone 5?
“October,” the source said, while declining to offer a hard launch date.
Previously, the only hard launch date that we have received about the next generation iPhone, came in from Switzerland where it is believed that Swisscom will start selling the iPhone 5 on October 5, a whole month after it is released in the US on September 5. Only recently, China Times reported that the iPhone 5 will launch in second week of September, you've got to take that seriously, considering the Chinese know something about the iPhone 5 that we don't.
This happens to be the first time that iPhone 5 USA release has not been claimed to be in September. If it does release in October, then it means that the iPhone 5 will be globally released in either November or early December. October or September, we don't really care, but its high time for Apple to release its next generation iPhone sooner than later.
