We love Cydia. It adds magic to our jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Ever wondered why it was not possible to enable multitasking in Cydia? Well now it is possible and this guide will show you exactly how you can enable multitasking in Cydia on your jailbroken iDevice.

By default, Cydia doesn't have multitasking turned on. The initial release of Cydia didn't even have the resume function, however in the Cydia 1.1 update, Jay Freeman a.k.a Saurik added the resume function in Cydia meaning that you could begin from where you left off, after you had installed a new package or resprung/rebooted your device. Still, even the resume function, you have to wait for Cydia to load up once again while true multitasking eliminates the hassle of waiting every time for Cydia to finish loading. Hence the purpose of writing this guide to teach you how to enable multitasking in Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Obviously, before you proceed with this guide, jailbreaking your device and installing Cydia is a pre-requisite. Follow our detailed, easy step by step guides to jailbreak iOS 5 beta, iOS 4.3.5, 4.3.4 using redsn0w and to jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0 (the only way and firmware to jailbreak iPad 2) FYI: JailbreakMe 3.0 can also jailbreak iPhone, iPod touch on iOS 4.3-4.3.3.

Once you have jailbroken your device, you must install iFile from Cydia in order to do this procedure on your device itself.

Step 1: Launch iFile on your jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Step 2: Enter the root filesystem of your device. Tap on Applications followed by Cydia.app.

Step 3: Once Cydia.app opens, scroll all the way down and tap on Info.plist and open it up in Property List Viewer.

Step 4: After opening Info.plist file, scroll down to UIApplicationExistsOnSuspend. By default, it would be set to ON. Tap on it to toggle it OFF.

Step 5: Respring your device.

That's it! You've now learned to enable multitasking in Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Though it rarely happens, but some people have reported to have faced screen flickering issues after doing this procedure. Our advise would be to rerun the jailbreak on your device and then do this procedure to enable multitasking in Cydia once again.

If you've followed these steps carefully, you should now have learnt to easily enable Cydia multitasking on your jailbroken iOS device. However, if you do face any problems in any step of this issue, don't hesitate to ask for help from our experts by leaving a comment down below.
