Not only are iOS devices the best at what they do, they also provide an amazing handheld gaming experience due to which many handheld gaming consoles have seen a major slump in sales. As if the gaming on the iOS devices is not fun enough, Griffin Technology has released something that takes fun to a whole different level. Get your aviator shades on, because we're about to go helicopter flying!
Griffin Technology has recently released a new product that's compatible with the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This new product is called the Helo TC. It is a pint sized helicopter with twin rotors and a tail stabilizer that works with the Helo TC iOS app which allows you to control this miniature helicopter with your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch using the virtual joystick that comes up on the multitouch display of your device.
Along with the mini helicopter itself, a Flight Deck also comes which can be plugged in to the headphone jack of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. The Flight Deck translates your commands into infrared signals which are then sent to the helicopter. It is piloted just like any other remote controlled toy, with soft version of a stick and throttle controls and can also be piloted via tilt control, which uses the iPhone’s accelerometers. The Helo TC app also provides an Auto Land feature that allows you to safely land the helicopter with just one tap on the display.
You might be familiar with another such gadget known as the Parrot A.R. Drone which is a 4 rotored helicopter also controlled via these iDevices. However, it comes with a hefty price tag of $299.99. Griffin Technology seems to have hit Parrot where it would hurt them the most, by releasing the Helo TC helicopter for a shocking $49.99 price. It is not as fancy as the Drone but for its price, the Griffin Helo TC is a pretty cool toy.
As of now, you can pre-order the Griffin Helo TC at the Griffin Technology website, where as it will be available at various retailer outlets till December 2011. The Helo TC app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is available free of cost at the iTunes App Store.
