One obviously can't deny the fact that the iPad is a phenomenal tablet. We use it for a variety of purposes like sending emails, playing games, surfing the web and most importantly, reading ebooks and magazines. Now if you have an iPad and you are a follower of Readers Digest magazine, rejoice as your favourite magazine has now landed on the iPad.
Readers Digest is a world wide magazine. It prints 10 editions each year and has articles relating to various aspects of your personal and professional life. It has articles about health, diet plans, exercising, budgeting and tons of other stuff including some very hilarious comics and jokes.
The interactive edition of READER’S DIGEST lets you browse smart, useful tips on health, work, food, relationships, home, and money, all expertly selected from hundreds of online and print sources. You’ll discover original profiles of inspiring people, insightful essays, and news roundups that get you up to speed fast on the issues you care about.
Starting September 2011, existing print subscribers can get free access to the magazine's iPad edition for up to six months, whereas non print subscribers can also subscribe but without this advantage. However, the print subscribers will have to subscribe digitally, after their 6 months. Subscriptions are for $1.99 per month or $14.99 per year. Single issues are available for $1.99 a piece. Those who are not print subscribers can also subscribe for the application at the same rates.
Earlier this year in February, an experimental version of the "Reader's Digest" application for iPad was launched which was pretty cool. Alongside the genuine magazine articles, there were a few short games, polls and other stuff which made the app fun, besides being informative.
Dan Lagani, President of Readers Digest Association said that he hopes to bring more Reader's Digest brands to the iPad via subscription. It is not surprising that Dan Lagani wants to bring subscribers from the print version, to the iPad version as this would be very cost effective for the magazine.
You can download the Readers Digest iPad app from the iTunes App Store for free, but you'll obviously have to pay the price for Readers Digest issues.
