As of now, only AT&T and Verizon Wireless offer the iPhone locked to their respective GSM and CDMA networks. Obviously, Apple would want to capture the market of Sprint Nextel, which hasn't been a carrier partner of Apple ever since they launched the iPhone. Now, that might be about to change as a report claims Apple will release iPhone 5 on Sprint Nextel's CDMA network as well.

Sprint is currently the third largest mobile network in USA with over 52 million users, and has posted the highest increase in subscribers this year. Apparently Sprint Nextel is now looking to take advantage of Apple's excellent brand name. There is no doubt that this is a brilliant opportunity for Sprint to make profits as there are only two other providers of iPhone 5 through their retail networks in the US. Keeping in mind all the hype about the iPhone 5 and the success of the iPhone series, it is obvious that the next generation phone will make a lot of sales and Sprint will be one of the lucky few that will be providing the phone.

As soon as this news was originally reported by the WSJ, Sprint's stock went up 10% which is bound to have made investors happy. Considering the fact that just a news about a possible iPhone 5 on Sprint can jump their stock price to a whole new high, imagine how much profit the company will roll in once it starts selling the iPhone 5 on contract.

As far as the iPhone 5 is concerned, we've heard rumours from credible sources that the next generation iPhone will be dual-mode. Meaning that you can run iPhone 5 on both CDMA and GSM networks. If that is indeed the case, we just might see T-Mobile USA officially offer the iPhone 5 as well. On the other hand, word on the internet also points at a cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 which many claim to be the long hyped iPhone 4S. We however have reasons to believe that it may very well be an iPhone running solely on iCloud. Industry sources have led us to believe that Apple will be releasing two iPhones in 2011. Earlier this year we reported that the iPhone 5 will support all U.S. carriers. Now, It doesn't take a genius to put all the pieces to the puzzle together.

Sprint's CDMA network can be a welcome addition to the already massive market Apple caters to with its iPhone. If they actually go through with it, the deal could actually prove to be a win-win situation for both Apple and Sprint. The iPhone 5 US release has been slated for October.
