According to a very recent report citing sources within T-Mobile USA, it is highly likely that T-Mobile USA which has been acquired by AT&T for $39 billion will also be getting the iPhone 5 come October, iPhoneism has learnt. We had heard rumours that T-Mobile might get an iPhone and this happens to be the first time that any such report has come forward claiming that it might actually happen.
Only earlier today we had reported that a CDMA iPhone 5 is coming to Sprint Nextel. It looks like Apple is hoping to go all out on this one by making the fifth generation iPhone available to every carrier in the United States. A couple of months back we had reported following information from industry sources that Apple will release iPhone 5 with support for all U.S. carriers and now as the rumours are slowly unfolding, our prediction is coming true.
The site which originally posted this rumour claims to have a source inside T-Mobile USA. The source has tipped them out about an iPhone 5 that will be capable of running on full 3G speeds on T-Mobile's network. As of now, T-Mobile USA does not offer and has not ever offered the iPhone even though it has been acquired by AT&T which has held exclusivity over the iPhone since 2007 only to lose it recently to Verizon Wireless and its CDMA iPhone 4. The only way to run an iPhone on T-Mobile at the moment is by unlocking an iPhone using software or if you're stuck on higher basebands, unlocking iPhone using hardware interposers. When AT&T acquired T-Mobile USA we had an inkling that the carrier might finally get the iPhone and now it looks like its going to happen come the iPhone 5 launch this October.
If this does happen, its going to be beneficial for both T-Mobile and Apple. First, Apple will get access to the market share that T-Mobile holds and undoubtedly most of them will be iPhone 5 hungry. Due to the fact that the iPhone sells faster than anything in the world, T-Mobile can see some greens on its balance sheets after it begins to sell iPhone 5 through its retail network all over the USA.
As for the iPhone 5, we've heard that it is going to be a dual-mode smartphone. You will be able to use iPhone 5 on both CDMA and GSM networks at once but if that really turns out to be the case, you can forget about a LTE 4G capable iPhone 5. If rumours are true, iPhone 5 pre-orders will begin on September 30.
So if Apple really decides to release the iPhone 5 on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, which one would you go for?
