In what is totally an unprecedented move, Steve Jobs has sent over a letter of resignation to the Board of Directors over at Apple Inc. The man who we know as the creator of Apple and who has also held the position of CEO twice has now finally bid farewell as CEO of Apple.

Posted below is the full text to Steve Jobs's resignation letter:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

As soon as this news broke out, Apple's shares went down 7% and they're bound to go down even more if the company doesn't reveal a clear cut plan as to how they plan on proceeding forward now that Steve Jobs is out of the driving seat. Many people have loved and adored this man for years. His innovative style, his amazing articulatory and presentation skills and simply his legacy have moved millions of people around the globe. It is definitely sad to see him leave the reins of the company he built with his very own hands in his very own garage.

However, Steve Jobs isn't going to stop thinking about Apple all together. He will be the Chairman Board of Directors at Apple, apart from the fact that he is already a major shareholder in the company. Steve Jobs had went on an abrupt medical leave of absence from Apple in February and many had speculated that he might be considering leaving the top spot at One Infinite Loop.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that Steve Jobs is no longer the CEO of Apple. No more presentations that leave thousands of spectators awestruck, no more pulling iPods out of pockets and taking Macbook Airs out of office envelopes. A whole era has come to an end and now we hope that Apple maintains its current position both in the market and the industry.
