Following the ever growing popularity of Flipboard iPad app, the company has announced that the Flipboard iPhone app will be available for download soon. Yay!
Flipboard was named as Apple's iPad App of the Year and it also made TIME's list of top 50 innovations of 2010. Flipboard is unique on its own as it allows you to literally flip through content your friends share on Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader, Flickr, and Instagram. Everything is displayed in a magazine format hence making the reading experience a breeze. Using Flipboard, you can also catch up on the latest articles from major online publications. From the app itself, you can share articles and photos as well as comment on the posts that you want to. Flipboard app allows you to like or favorite what ever you like. You can also customize your Flipboard by choosing your favourite sources, people, feeds, social networks etc. Even Steve Jobs once spoke very highly about Flipboard.
Apart from bringing all of this goodness in the Flipboard iPhone app, the company has also scheduled a big overall update. They are going to be signing deals with studios as the company is going to add TV shows and films to the app. In an addition to its current format of providing article based content, these deals that the company will sign with studies will allow them to deliver films as well as TV shows to millions of people who use the iPad app and those who will use the upcoming Flipboard iPhone app when it is released.
However, the CEO revealed that he will be working extensively on the video project at the end of this year. He also declined to comment when asked with which studios was Flipboard hoping to sign deals with. He also revealed that the company has plans to bring publishers on board as well for selling e-books through Flipboard iPhone app as well as the iPad app, a move which will see increased revenue for the company since we live in an age where e-books are largely purchased online.
