The rumour mill may have halted for a day when Steve Jobs announced his resignation, but now its back in full swing. A picture has been leaked of an upcoming iPhone which might be dubbed as the iPhone 5. In this picture we get the first look ever of what will probably be the iPhone 5 back cover.
There an interesting thing about this picture, originally posted online by Macpost. Long ago we had heard that internally Apple was referring to the next generation iPhone as N94. Back in the day when iOS 4.3 was initially released, N94 was discovered in the code which meant that it was the internal name of 2011 iPhone. N94 was found to be running on the dual-core A5 processor, the same processor Apple fit inside iPad 2 and it has already been confirmed that the iPhone 5 will have the very same processor. This makes it very clear that N94 is definitely the next generation iPhone as the part picture that you see above is also labelled N94.
Back in April this year we saw leaked photos of a N94 prototype what was running on T-Mobile USA's network. Currently, AT&T and Verizon sell the iPhone through their retail networks and if someone wants to use their iPhone on T-Mobile USA, they have to unlock it. As per the rumours, N94 looks very much like the iPhone 4 but it has the A5 processor. Could this mean that the N94 is the cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 we have been hearing about?
However, there is also a big possibility that the N94 is actually the upcoming iPhone. We have heard many reports that the iPhone 5 will be much similar to the iPhone 4 in terms of design as the major differences will be in terms of performance. If you see leaked iPhone 5 cases, you can get an idea what the next iPhone will look like.
If this is the cheap iPhone, wouldn't that mean Apple will be fitting its cheap iPhone with its current flagship processor? If cheap iPhone has the A5, will the full fledged iPhone 5 have an A6 processor? But that is far from production at the moment! The mystery will unravel when obviously Apple comes forward with the official details. All we can hope now is that these rumours don't drive us to the edge of desperation.
