About five days ago, Apple seeded iOS 5 beta 7 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. One may think that as beta builds progress, they're likely to have less bugs. However, in iOS 5 beta 7 we saw a major bug in the Music app that has been encountered by us and many of our readers all around the world on their various iOS devices. In this post, we'll show you how you can fix iOS 5 beta 7 Music bug for good.

Actually, this particular bug is not only limited to the Music app, previously known as the iPod app, of iOS 5 beta 7. Several readers have also complained that they are facing this exact same issue in the Videos app as well. So this tutorial will not only teach you how to fix the iOS 5 beta 7 music bug, but as well as the Videos app bug.

How To Fix iOS 5 Beta 7 Music And Video Bug:

The procedure to fix iOS 5 beta 7 music bug is actually very simple. You basically need to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the computer and re-sync all of your music and videos back on your device and you will cease to encounter this problem. This might irk those who have hundreds of tracks on their device and think that spending nearly an hour on re-sync is just a waste of time. Regardless of what you think, if you don't do this, you won't be able to fix iOS 5 beta 7 music and video bug.

Step 1: Plug in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the computer. iTunes will automatically pop up.

Step 2: When iTunes comes up, select your device from the left sidebar.

Step 3: Once your device opens up in iTunes, click on the Music tab. Uncheck Sync Music and click on Sync to remove the entire iTunes library that you previously synced on your iOS device.

Step 4: Once iTunes finishes removing the entire library from your device, reopen the Music tab and recheck Sync Music. Now click on Sync.

Step 5: After iTunes is done loading the entire library on your device, simply launch the Music app and blast your tunes through the speakers of your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. No thanks necessary.

*Note: To fix iOS 5 beta 7 Videos bug, the same procedure applies. You just have to click on the Videos tab instead of the Music tab in iTunes. Rest of the procedure is exactly the same.

Apparently, this isn't the only bug that users have faced in iOS 5 beta 7. We were told that it was impossible to enable, edit or change EDGE / APN settings on iOS 5 beta 7 due to a bug. If you too are facing this issue, we've posted a fix for this issue, here.

I’m am running iOS 5 beta 7 on an iPhone 4, this week I was taking some photos for work and hit 1000 photos. Now the photo app crashes every time I try to open it. I hook it up to my computer and iPhoto doesn’t read it, neither does aperture. The pic the comes up for camera roll is the last pic I took so I know the pics are still there. Anyone have any ideas or just wait for beta 8?

Photo App crashes; for a while it wouldn’t store photos in the photo roll; I could access the photos via phone disk; now it simply crashes and photos are now gone.

What’s the bug? I can’t find a description of the problem or a link to an Apple discussion page regarding this major issue? Any help?

Thanks for this fix, it’s exactly what I was looking for. Interestingly enough, this also fixed something that puzzled me when I updated to iOS 5. My “other” data jumped from .5 GB to 2.5 GB during the update, and after erasing all music and resynching it, it’s back down to .5 GB.

I have no clue why the 2.5 GB “other” data thing happened, but everywhere I’ve looked online I’ve only found people asking about similar amounts of data in this category and random people replying that it’s “just emails, attachments, album art, cookies, etc.” but there is no way I had 2.5 GB of this miscellaneous stuff on my iPhone, especially when I watched that data category literally go from .5 GB to 2.5 GB while my iOS was updating. I don’t know if these two issues are related, but again, “fixing” the music app bug also fixed this one for me.

Hmmm I have tried the above fix but when I get to step 4/5 of the synch I get the message: iTunes could not copy ‘X’ to the iPhone because the phone is disconnected. When clearly it is. Any help?

This didn’t work! Which was really annoying seeing it took so long to reload my entire library! Next!!!

  • Annoyed iPod user..

I have tried this fix once before and it still doesn’t work. But ADDING to this problem is the fact that the artists aren’t named the same as my iTunes library. AWESOME; perfect before the update.. why the hell did they fix something that wasn’t broken..

Awesome fix. Thanks. This was driving me crazy. Your directions were perfect, and my problem has been resolved.

It worked but now I have two of the same song alot now. What do I do?

  • Bri

I removed all songs and ensured they were completely wiped off of my phone, then resynced. Still no sound. Also my ringer volume does not appear when I hit the volume up/down buttons… very frustrating.

Absolutely horrible. Was packing to leave to the states and i grabbed my iphone to play some music and i also have this problem. It’s really discouraging the fact that i’m heading out on a 16 hour flight with no music. Very disappointing apple. I have tried unsyncing and resyncing this problem. NOT FIXXED!!!! Not all songs play, some of the songs appear on my iphone twice, one working, one not working. This is a big headache.

i had the same problem i tried the resync and it didn’t work know I’m re downloading all my purchased music on my phone from the store directly i think it is working just takes forever

  • Helppp

All my music is playing now but not all my songs downloaded with the rest of y music. I am missing about 20 songs! They agree on my computer but will not transfer to my phone! Any help?! Please
