Each day we're flooded with rumours regarding Apple's upcoming iPhone. There's a huge possibility that the iPhone 5 will be released next month and to further support this claim, we're told that Foxconn is manufacturing about 150,000 iPhone 5 units every single day. Foxconn has also manufactured previous iPhones for Apple and is now the company's second manufacturer for iPhone 5, the first being Pegatron.
Based on the pace Foxconn is progressing with, shipment of about 5-6 million iPhone 5 units should be done in September and about 22 million by the end of this quarter. We had previously reported that Apple had ordered 10 million iPhone 5 units from its manufacturers prior release and if Foxconn will deliver the aforementioned number of iPhones, its safe to say that the rest will be manufactured by Pegatron.
Foxconn Technology Group is a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. and are one of the largest makers of electronic components in the world. They have been manufacturing iPhones and iPads for Apple in the past as well. However, this time Apple decided not to rely entirely on one manufacturer and awarded about 15% of iPhone 5 manufacturing orders to Taiwan based Pegatron Technology.
Having multiple manufacturers will allow Apple to thin out the demand supply gap as much as possible because it is evident that once a new Apple product goes up for sale, a huge demand supply gap is always created. The 10 million iPhone 5 units that Apple has ordered will cater to the initial demand after iPhone 5 release in USA. TPK Holding have also begun work on the iPhone 5 touch panel, Largan Precison is making the iPhone 5 camera, G-Tech Optoelectronics is making the reinforced glass and Dynapack and Simplo are preparing their battery packs in full swing.
As far as the iPhone 5 release is concerned, it was rumoured that iPhone 5 preorders will start on September 30th, prior to a mid-October release. A global iPhone 5 release could take up to a fortnight after that happens. Previously rumours will hinting at a September release of iPhone 5 and we have yet to receive an invite from Apple to the iPhone 5 release event. There's a big possibility that iPhone 5 won't be released in September. However before we can say anything for sure, we have to wait for Apple to come out with the official details, so let's just wait for that now.
