Vodafone happens to be one of the most popular mobile carrier in Europe. The iPhone 5 has been awaited for quite a while now and based on the rumors its release date seems to be closing in and by now the mobile carriers must have some clue about the iPhone 5. Vodafone has accidentally confirmed that the iPhone 5 will be available in Black and White colours with 16GB and 32GB memory options.
Vodafone mistakenly revealed these details about the iPhone 5 on the product page of Vodafone Sure Signal. This Vodafone device is a signal booster that is compatible with a host of other smartphones as well. In the list of compatible phones, Vodafone has mentioned the iPhone 5 in black and white colours with 16GB and 32GB storage variants.
While this particular list doesn't divulge any details about the iPhone 5, those who had high hopes of getting increased storage on the next generation iPhone can now accept the fact that their hopes have been squashed. If this wasn't a typing error, it would have to be a huge one if it really is, then we know for sure that iPhone 5 will only be available in 16GB and 32GB variants. We've also seen Korean Telecom 16GB and 32GB iPhone 5 SKUs further confirming that iPhone 5 will not offer increase storage capacity.
However Vodafone has quickly corrected this and have removed the information that you see in the picture above. If you visit the product page right now and check the compatible phones tab, you'll notice that there is no mention of the iPhone 5 right now. It is likely that Vodafone does know the specifics about iPhone 5, given the fact that it is one of Apple's major mobile carrier outside the USA.
As far as the iPhone 5 release date is concerned, it has been said that iPhone 5 preorders will start from September 30th. However the iPhone 5 release will be on October 21st. Even if these dates are mere speculation we can be sure that the iPhone 5 release is just around the corner. We know that Foxconn is making 150,000 iPhone 5 in a day to meet Apple's order of 10 million iPhone 5 units. With its manufacturers working in full swing, it doesn't seem logical for Apple to delay the iPhone 5 release more than it already has, because most people were expecting Apple to announce fifth generation iPhone at the WWDC 2011.
Keep checking back with iPhoneism to get your fix of iPhone 5 related news. One things for sure though, if you ever face Vodafone reception issues on iPhone 5, simply get a Sure Signal as it is compatible with Apple's upcoming iPhone as well.
