We're probably less than a month away from iPhone 5 release slated for October. However that does not mean we won't be seeing a plethora of rumours and knock offs coming in from people who want to gain from the massive hype surrounding Apple's upcoming iPhone 5. Popular case maker Case Mate is the subject under consideration today as it turns out they might have somewhat leaked iPhone 5 in the pictures of their iPhone 5 cases.
For a moment, Case Mate's website displayed a product page for iPhone 5 cases. This particular page had photos and details about all Case Mate iPhone 5 cases. However before we could publish this finding, Case Mate removed the page and redirected it to this splash page. Kudos to the guys at TechCrunch for capturing all of the pictures before they were taken down.
Now there are two possibilities for this leak. It is possible that somebody at Case Mate put up this page long before they were supposed to, and it is also possible that this has been an attempt to gain attention by Case Mate purposefully putting up these images online and then redirecting the page to the splash page we talked about before. Either way, since this story is now published on the internet, Case Mate is definitely going to see a lot of traffic and probably some potential iPhone 5 case customers as well.
This isn't exactly the first time we've seen iPhone 5 cases. About a month ago, a silicon iPhone 5 case was making rounds on the internet and it hinted at a much thinner design for Apple's upcoming flagship smartphone. There have been dozens of rumours that the iPhone 5 will be thinner than all of its predecessors and if you look at these Case Mate iPhone 5 cases, they also seem to suggest a thin profile for the next generation iPhone. Apart from that the edges look tapered, rumours of which we've also heard.
Time and again it has been said and established that case makers generally have an idea of an upcoming device and are able to manufacture cases long before the device is actually released. It is highly likely that Case Mate knows what the iPhone 5 looks like but if this leak wasn't intentional, it definitely is a mistake that's bound to piss off Cupertino.
Do you love these purported Case Mate iPhone 5 cases? Would you consider buying one when Apple releases iPhone 5?
