Another one comes in today. This new rumour claims that the Apple Media Event of 2011 will be held on October 5th in which Apple will be announcing the iPhone 5 and the iPod touch 5G. These devices will be available for purchase approximately a week after the announcement.
This particular rumour has refuted all previous rumours about the iPhone 5 release date. It was earlier reported that Apple might announce the iPhone 5 on October 21. This statement was believe for about a week and then we had Orange CEO stating that Apple will release iPhone 5 on October 15. Now this report bites off ten days claiming that October 5 is the day when the fifth generation iPhone and iPod touch are released.
We have heard and seen enough rumours about the iPhone 5. As far as the iPod touch 5G is concerned, it was recently speculated that Apple will not be making any major changes to its new iPod touch, they will just offer a white iPod touch 5G. A 3G capable fifth-gen iPod touch has also been hinted a couple of times, not to mention the fact that such capability was first discovered on the picture of an iPod touch posted on Apple's own website. The image was quickly pulled after it was discovered.
Obviously, no one can be sure whether or not this rumour is true. There's enough uncertainty about the iPhone 5 as it is. Some say that Apple will release two iPhones this fall, the other one being a cheaper iPhone 4. Other expected iPhone models include the iPhone 4Gs and the iCloud iPhone. Better placed industry sources tell us that the iPhone 5 will have a thin and tapered design, better camera, an eight megapixel camera and probably a bigger screen. We already know that Foxconn is producing 150,000 iPhone 5 units per day and that Apple is seeding the final iOS 5 build to them this week for installation on these units, which will then be shipped all across the world.
Frankly speaking, we've had enough with these iPhone 5 rumours. We'd rather trust our own sources and much rather our instincts. If this rumours is anything to go by at all, we might see Apple announce the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G on October 5. The only truth we see in this rumour is the symbolism, because the devices in question are called iPhone 5, iPod touch 5G and they will be running on iOS 5 so to some dim wit it might make sense for Apple to release them on October 5.
Your thoughts please?
