Lots of jailbreak related news coming in today. One of the most interesting and exciting jailbreak news of this entire month has to be what we're talking about in this post. p0sixninja, member of the Chronic Dev Team revealed earlier today that his team has found 5 userland exploits for iPad 2 and its quite possible that these exploits may also be used for iPhone 5 iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.

As most of you would know, the Chronic Dev Team has been out of the jailbreak scene for quite some time now. Their last greenpois0n release was so far back that people don't remember what firmware it came out for. Over time, we have heard from p0sixninja himself that the team was hard at work discovering iPad 2 jailbreak exploits and dumping the A5 bootrom. In order to give himself more competition, p0sixninja also challenged legendary iPhone jailbreaker George Hotz a.k.a Geohot to see who will be the first one among them to dump the A5 bootrom. Geohot had reportedly accepted the challeged, but then he was hired by Facebook and we could say nothing but Godspeed.

Nevertheless earlier today while speaking at the world's first jailbreak convention MyGreatFest 2011 in London, p0sixninja enthusiastically revealed that he and his team have been able to find 5 new userland jailbreak exploits which can be used for iPhone 5 iOS 5 untethered jailbreak as well as iPad 2 iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.

Userland exploit is a software based exploit which is very easy to patch for Apple. Recently, Comex released iPad 2 jailbreak on iOS 4.3.3 just because he was able to find a userland exploit but a day after the release, Apple patched the exploit by releasing iOS 4.3.4 firmware. On the other hand, the bootrom hardware based exploit that we talked about earlier can not be patched by releasing new software. The only way to patch it is to revise the hardware which isn't possible for Apple because they obviously can not recall millions of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch units. If the Chronic Dev Team have been able to find the biggest number of exploits to date, it's only a matter of time before they dump the A5 iPad 2 bootrom as well.

So basically what this means is that if, hopefully, Apple doesn't patch these exploits when it releases iOS 5 publicly, we can very well have iPad 2 iOS 5 untethered jailbreak as well as for all those devices compatible with the new iOS within just a few hours of release. As far as the iPhone 5 iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is concerned, the Chronic Dev Team has said that they first need to actually get the iPhone 5 to see whether or not their userland exploits are compatible with it. Hopefully, the exploits will be compatible.

Come next month when iOS 5 and iPhone 5 are released, we're bound to have some juicy jailbreak related news coming in every other day. Be sure to check with iPhoneism for the most authentic jailbreak news and tutorials.
