Since the past couple of months we have been hearing and reading about a plethora of rumours about a possible iPhone 5 release date. Most of these rumours did not turn out to be true and we're still not certain about the release date of iPhone 5. In an interesting development, Apple Board of Directors member Al Gore confirmed earlier today that the company is all geared up to announce new iPhones next month. Anyone notice the letter S in iPhones?
Speaking at the Discovery Invest Leadership summit earlier today former US Vice President and current member of Apple's Board of Directors Al Gore confirmed that the new iPhones will be released in October. This statement perfectly coincides with our previous report which confirms next generation iPhone release on October 4.
Unfortunately Al Gore did not clarify this statement any further and the audience was left hanging to the aforementioned one sentence only. We obviously can't be too sure about what Al Gore meant when he said "new iPhones" however in light of recent rumours it is likely for Apple to release two iPhones in 2011. Apart from the full fledged iPhone 5 with its dual-core A5 process, 8 megapixel camera and tapered design, Apple has been rumoured to announce a cheaper contract free iPhone as well. Some say that Apple will release a cheaper iPhone 4 while many have hinted at an iPhone which runs on iCloud and comes without a contract.
Of all the people making statements about possible iPhone 5 release dates, it would seem rather foolish to doubt the knowledge of an Apple BoD member. Though his statement does not necessarily have to be true as its possible that he too might have made this statement in light of recent rumours that pin iPhone 5 release date in October next month. There is also a possibility that Al Gore misspoke, but that would be quite a big mistake for a former US Vice President to make.
The fact remains that we still don't know whether or not Apple is releasing two new iPhones next month. What we do know is that this time Apple will ship the white iPhone 5 from day one. So when Al Gore said two new iPhones, did he mean a white and a black iPhone 5? What do you think? Leave a comment to let us know!
