It is possible that the iPhone 5 release event will be conducted on October 4, however as expected it won't be in San Francisco. The iPhone 5 release event will be conducted at the Apple Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino, iPhoneism has learnt.

There was a lot of speculation about iPhone 5 release date but just a couple of days back it was confirmed by a very well connected source that October 4 is a possible date for the iPhone 5 release event. Now that very same source claims that this time Apple isn't conducting the event at some big venue in San Francisco, rather its going to be an intimate event with a limited audience packed inside the Apple Town Hall Auditorim, located at One Infinite Loop, Cupertino California.

Many thought that the Apple Media Event 2011, in which Apple is going to announce iPhone 5, would be held at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco which has previously been the venue for many major Apple product announcements. Even more so, because Apple has announced all of its iPhones in San Francisco, so why should the iPhone 5 be any different?

One highly unlikely but not completely impossible reason for this rather intimate iPhone 5 release event could be due to the fact that this iPhone update might not be one with radical changes. It has been rumoured that Apple will solely release a slightly modified version of the iPhone 4 this Fall, whereas the fully redesigned and power packed iPhone 5 will be released in 2012. It obviously does not make sense for Apple to book a large venue for a minor product refresh. One totally possible reason can be the fact that this time it won't be former CEO Steve Jobs on the stage making announcements, it would be Apple's new CEO Tim Cook and the iPhone 5 release is his first ever major product unveiling. He would definitely be at ease on home ground because he has to live up to the presentation legacy that Steve Jobs has left behind at Apple. An intimate gathering with a selected number of people seems right for Tim Cook's first major product announcement.

Do keep in mind though that Apple has yet to send out media invites for its iPhone 5 release event, and if its due on October 4, that leaves attendees with merely a couple of days to make travel and other necessary arrangements. So even if this is a major iPhone update, the last minute invite dispatch would make it harder for potential attendees to make the arrangements. It would obviously be better for Apple to have a jam packed relatively smaller venue than a big one with less audience.
