Apple has just released iTunes 10.5 beta 9 for Mac OS X. Registered developers can now download iTunes 10.5 beta 9 from the Developer Portal. Non-developers, stay tuned to iPhoneism.
iTunes 10.5 beta 9 Release Notes:
- iTunes 10.5 beta 9 includes several performance enhancements and bug fixes, and is a required update for all subscribers to iTunes Match beta.
- Your iCloud libraries will be deleted at the end of this beta.
- Backup regularly and do not delete the music you add to iCloud from your computer. Apple may periodically delete all iCloud libraries during the beta period. This will require you to scan, match, and upload songs again. Also note that some of the features and optimizations of iTunes Match may not be available during this beta.
The fact that Apple has seeded iTunes 10.5 beta 9 today hints that an iOS 5 GM release is just around the corner. With less than four days remaining until the iPhone 5 release event where Apple is supposedly going to publicly release iOS 5, the time is right for Apple to seed new developer betas of iTunes as well as iOS 5 GM for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Once you install iTunes 10.5 beta 9 you will no longer be able to sync your devices that are running iOS 5 beta firmware, with the exception of iOS 5 beta 7, which is currently the latest developer beta of iOS 5. It was rumoured that Apple would release iOS 5 beta 8 last week, however now it looks like the next seed might be iOS 5 GM build after all. If you have a Developer Account that costs $99, you can download iTunes 10.5 beta 9 right now from the developers portal. If you don't have a developer account, don't worry as we'll be uploading iTunes 10.5 beta 9 and you can soon find iTunes 10.5 beta 9 download links here in this post.
At the moment, there is no mention of an iTunes 10.5 beta 9 for Windows. We have a strong feeling that iOS 5 GM build might be seeded later today, and if the GM build does come out, an iTunes 10.5 beta update for Windows will also be seeded. These are going to be the last developer betas before iOS 5 goes public on October 4. Non-developers, keep checking back here for iTunes 10.5 beta 9 download links and if any more developer betas are released, you know where to find them. Hint: iPhoneism.
