Apple just announced the iPhone 4S at Let's Talk iPhone event in Cupertino California. No major changes, except that it boasts an A5 dual-core CPU in the same body as the iPhone 4.
If you thought putting a dual-core processor would compromise battery life, you're wrong. Apple has increased the talk time of iPhone 4S to 8 hours. Now that is really fantastic. iPhone 4S will have really fantastic call quality, as Phil says: "Our engineering system has worked really hard at advancing the state of the art... it can now intelligently switch between the two antennas between transmit and receive". Theoretical download speeds are 14.4 mbps as compared to 7.2 on iPhone 4. iPhone 4S is both CDMA and GSM making it a dual-mode world phone. iPhone 4S has an all new 8 megapixel camera along with an IR filter to give better and accurate colors. Apple's own ISP gives face detection and auto white balance features. The A5 dual-core processor allows faster capturing of photos. Full HD 1080p video recording with real-time video image stabilization and real-time temporal noise reduction is now possible using the iPhone 4S.
AirPlay Mirroring is possible using iPhone 4S. Since its processor gives a 7x gaming experience, wouldn't it be nice to AirPlay your games to a bigger screen? It also comes with the Siri Assistant, that we have been hearing about for the past couple of months. Siri is intelligent, it will do whatever you want it to do just by saying it out loud. Its amazing! Siri takes care of your needs. Ask it to give you direction to any particular place, it will open Maps and give you the direction. Ask it to check up on the stock market, it will display relevant results. From getting weather forecasts, checking your calendar appointments and making them if you want to settings your alarms, you really will be talking with the iPhone 4S. Not only that, Siri can also search for whatever you ask it to on Wikipedia and WolframAlpha. Siri also lets you compose emails by just dictating it. Scott Forstall says that Siri will have "built-in with support for English, French, and German. It will be beta at the start; by beta we mean we’ll add more languages and services over time.”
iPhone 4S will be priced as follows: 16GB for $199, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399. iPhone 4S preorders start October 7th, Friday. Shipping on October 14 in USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, UK and Germany. October 28th to another 22 countries. Sprint will sell iPhone 4S as well in USA, though not exclusively.
