October 4 is finally here and in less than 30 minutes the Let's Talk iPhone event is about to kick off at Apple Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino California. We'll be bringing you all of the updates in this Let's Talk iPhone event liveblog.

Apple is not providing an official livestream of this event, however the videos will be posted on their YouTube channel after the event ends. Not everyone has been invited by Apple, but still it is possible for you to catch all of the excitement in this Let's Talk iPhone event liveblog. Lot's of speculation regarding what CEO Tim Cook is going to unveil. The slightly refreshed iPhone 4S, the cheap iPhone 4 or the radically redesigned iPhone 5? We shall know for sure in about half an hour.

  1. Media registration is underway at Apple Town Hall Auditorium
  2. Japanese Apple website is displaying October 14 as iPhone 4S release date
  3. Finally! Media attendees are being shown to their seats
  4. The venue isn't used for big product announcements. This is a first
  5. Only six minutes to go. Let's hope they start on time
  6. Rolling Stones, Apple's music selection for Let's Talk iPhone event
  7. Let's get this show started: "Ladies and gentlemen our presentation will begin shortly"
  8. Seems like we're starting off on time
  9. Tim is out, can see him now!
  10. "I consider it a privilege of a lifetime to have worked here for almost 14 years and I am very excited about this new role. I want to welcome you to this campus, it serves kind of a second home for many of us" - Tim Cook on stage NOW!
  11. It was in this auditorium, the Apple Town Hall, that 10 years ago Apple launched the first iPod. Steve Jobs made the announcements back then.
  12. Tim says today we'll learn about innovations in software and hardware that will create a powerful yet simple integrated experience

  14. On opening weekend, the Shanghai store welcomed over 100,000 visitors
  15. Its amazing, as the L.A store took over a month to get 100,000 over all
  16. As always, a retail promo video is now being shown. The suspense is mounting!
  17. Tim says Apple's products are the focus of what they do and are responsible for the momentum they have
  18. Tim is walking through their four core products. Starting with the recently released Mac OS X Lion

  26. Comparatively, it took Sony over 30 years to sell 220,000 walkman cassette players
  27. Tim now talks about iTunes. Over 20 million songs in the iTunes database
  28. Finally, he comes to talk about iPhone. It's the number one smartphone in the world

  33. Every state in the USA has an iPad deployment or pilot program
  34. The iPad is everywhere, schools, colleges, universities and even in the airline industry
  35. "We've passed quarter of a billion sales mark" for all iOS devices
  36. Now updates on iOS. Scott Forstall has taken the stage
  37. "iOS is number one mobile operating system" - Duh!
  38. 18 Billion total app downloads from the App Store
  39. There's a new app today called Cards. It allows you to create and mail beautiful cards right from your iPhone or iPod touch
  40. Simply pick the picture you want on the card and Apple will print it out for you on 100% high quality cotton paper. U mad Hallmark?
  41. Apple assigned postage will be attached to these cards. $2.99 in the US and $4.99 for the rest of the world.
  42. Scott now talking about iOS 5. Seeded to over 100K developers. Reviewing top major features of iOS 5.
  43. Did we just spot Twitter CEO Dick Costolo? Yes we did. He has to be here, considering the fact that Twitter is deeply integrated with iOS 5

  55. The updated iPod nano comes with 16 new clock faces - for those of you who like to wear it as a watch
  56. Updated iPod nano comes with even bigger icons, making the multi-touch display easier to use
  57. It comes in 7 colors. iPod nano is 8GB for $129, and 16GB for $149. Shipping starts today

  59. Yes, its the iPhone 4S!
  60. iPod touch will now be available in white as well. 8GB is now $199, 32GB for $299, 64GB for $399. Shipping starts October 12.

  63. Despite bigger processor, iPhone 4S has more battery life than its predecessor. Talk time increased to 8 hours.

  65. iPhone 4S has an all new 8 megapixel camera sensor with IR filter for better colors
  66. Apple designed ISP allows face detection and auto-white balance. The A5 processor allows you to take pictures faster than ever before.
  67. iPhone 4S is capable of recording full 1080p HD video with real-time video image stabilization and real-time temporal noise reduction
  68. iPhone 4S also supports AirPlay Mirroring.
  69. Siri Assitant feature of iPhone 4S revealed
  70. Siri does everything you ask it to do, just by using your voice
  71. Wow! Siri really is amazing! You can get weather updates, get it to set alarms for you and even stock updates just by telling it what you need
  72. Siri will read out your text messages for you. Particularly helpful if your iPhone 4S is in your pocket and you are wearing a bluetooth headset
  73. Siri will also make calendar appointments to you and will read back the task when it is done
  74. Siri can search Wikipedia and WolframAlpha if you want it to
  75. You can also compose and dictate emails using Siri
  76. Scott says about Siri: "It’ll be built-in with support for English, French, and German. It will be beta at the start; by beta we mean we’ll add more languages and services over time.”
