Yesterday Apple seeded iOS 5 GM for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to developers. You can get an iOS 5 GM tethered jailbreak by using the previous beta of redsn0w, however this just released redsn0w 0.9.9b3 fixes many issues that were being reported.
We posted a tutorial yesterday on how to jailbreak iOS 5 GM tethered using redsn0w 0.9.9b2. The previous redsn0w beta was released to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 7 however it was possible to jailbreak iOS 5 GM using it by simply pointing redsn0w to the iOS 5 beta 7 IPSW. However many of our readers reported that they were having issues with booting tethered. So now you can download redsn0w 0.9.9b3 to make tethered boot easier as well as auto detect the iOS 5 GM IPSW.
redsn0w has been updated to 0.9.9b3 to auto-detect iOS5 GM firmware. Remember: it’s still tethered for all devices except for iPhone 3GS with old bootrom. If you don’t use redsn0w to “Just boot” at power up, all jailbreak apps (and even some native ones like MobileSafari) will fail to launch.
If you already jailbroke the GM by pointing an older redsn0w at the beta7 IPSW, there’s no need to re-run the full jailbreak step again…just use this newer one to make the tethered boot easier
iOS 5 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPod touch 3G and iPod touch 4G. You will be able to jailbreak iOS 5 GM tethered on all of these devices, except the iPad 2 which is not susceptible to the Limera1n bootrom exploit. So don't try using redsn0w 0.9.9b3 to jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 5 GM as it will not work. If you have an iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) that can be jailbroken untethered on iOS 5 GM. On all other devices, iOS 5 GM can be jailbroken tethered using redsn0w 0.9.9b3.

If you have already jailbroken your device using our tutorial, there is no need to re-run the jailbreak after you download redsn0w 0.9.9b3. It just makes it easier for you to boot tethered as redsn0w will auto detect iOS 5 GM IPSW and you won't have to point it towards the iOS 5 beta 7 IPSW.
