Sprint has got the iPhone 4S, which was revealed yesterday. This is the first time Sprint is carrying any iPhone. As we previously reported that Sprint will launch next generation iPhone with unlimited data plan, that has turned out to be true as Sprint has just confirmed iPhone 4S unlimited data plan.

Sprint is the third largest mobile network in the USA. Sprint will be selling iPhone 4S alongside its competitors AT&T and Verizon however it has one big edge over them. Sprint will be offering iPhone 4S unlimited data plan whereas AT&T and Verizon don't offer such plans to customers. The fact that both AT&T and Verizon have larger consumer bases than Sprint may contribute to the unavailability of unlimited data plan, it remains to be seen whether Sprint will be able to keep offering an unlimited data plan for iPhone 4S once it too gains a huge amount of new subscribers that join its network particularly for iPhone 4S and its unlimited data plan.

Sprint spokeswoman Michelle Leff Mermelstein said:

We will be offering the benefit of our unlimited plans that start at just $69.99 ... We have every confidence in the ability of our 3G network to handle the influx of devices we expect to get. It certainly hasn’t been an issue to date

The iPhone 4S unlimited data plan on Sprint includes unlimited data, obviously, 450 voice minutes and free mobile-to-mobile calling at $69.99 per month. For unlimited calling, the data plan will then cost you $99 per month. For hotspot use, Sprint caps data usage at 5GB on this unlimited data plan.

For long we had been hearing that Apple was considering adding Sprint to its list of carriers in the USA. It finally came true when Apple announced Sprint will also be carrying iPhone 4S yesterday at the Let's Talk iPhone event. Its particularly due to the fact that the iPhone 4S is a dual-mode smartphone compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks simultaneously. Sprint runs on the CDMA network. However, don't expect to run your AT&T iPhone 4S on Sprint, as these iPhones will still be carrier locked, regardless of the fact that they are dual-mode worldphones.

Do you think the iPhone 4S unlimited data plan on Sprint is enough to bring an influx of new subscribers to Sprint's network? Are you planning on buying an iPhone 4S on Sprint? Do let us know by leaving a comment below.
