While Steve Jobs' funeral was a very private affair and no public memorial was planned, as promised Tim Cook emailed employees today that Apple will celebrate Steve Jobs' life on October 19 at 10 am pacific time.

Earlier this week Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs passed away peacefully at his home in California. He had a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple earlier last month. In his resignation letter, Steve stated that he longer felt fit to function as the CEO of Apple. Soon after his resignation, Apple's Board of Directors appointed former COO and long time ally of Steve, Tim Cook as the new CEO of Apple. Regardless of resigning, Steve was still going to be involved in the company as Chairman Board of Directors. Little did the world know that Steve had less than a month to live.

In the internal email CEO Tim Cook sent out to employees today, he writes that they are going to celebrate the life of Steve Jobs on October 19. The celebration will take place at the outdoor amphitheater in One Infinite Loop, which is Apple's HQ.

Team,

Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week. But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius. And I’ve found comfort in both telling and listening to stories about Steve.

Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place. The celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 19, at 10am in the outdoor amphitheater on the Infinite Loop campus. We’ll have more details on AppleWeb closer to the date, including arrangements for employees outside of Cupertino.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Tim

No word as yet whether the media will be allowed to cover this celebration. The industry stands united in grief over the passing of Steve Jobs, as well as each and every person that has experience the amazing devices Steve Jobs has revealed over time. It can be said without a doubt that Steve Jobs' vision will remain at Apple for as long as the company exists.
