After months of delay and speculation, the official Facebook app for iPad has finally been released. You can now download the Facebook iPad app from the iTunes App Store.
Surprisingly enough, the official Facebook iPad app looks a lot like the one that was leaked earlier this year in May. Though Facebook blocked that app's access to its servers, it was still possible to use the leaked Facebook iPad app by installing a jailbreak tweak. Since everybody does not have a jailbroken iPad, particularly those who have iPad 2 that can't be jailbroken on any other firmware except iOS 4.3.3, the release of official Facebook iPad app is good news.
There are some new features on the official Facebook iPad aoo. Due to the launch of Facebook Platform for iOS as well as mobile devices, you can play Facebook games in full-screen mode. Facebook Games from Zynga, EA and more are going to offer additional features like Facebook Credits. Facebook for iPad supports HD video and Airplay, allowing you to watch videos shared on Facebook on your TV via AirPlay using an Apple TV or on other iOS devices.

The developer that made this app quit Facebook because his app was not being released despite the fact that he had delivered it fully feature complete in the deadline that was given to him. That aside though, the Facebook iPad app is finally here and those who could not use it through a jailbreak should be happy now.
