Ever wondered about the possibility of sending tweets using Siri on your iPhone 4S? It would be awesome to say the least. While Siri wouldn't do that for you by default, you can actually trick Siri in to sending tweets for you. How to do that? Follow the steps given after the jump.

With Siri, Apple has literally commercialized artificial intelligence. Never before have consumers experience artificial intelligence this up close and personal. Siri is your digital personal assistant that resides in your iPhone 4S, for now. Siri can accomplish a number of tasks for you which include but are not limited to sending texts and emails, settings reminders and calendar entries, playing your music, searching the web etc. If you are among those over one million people that pre-ordered iPhone 4S on the first day, you've probably gotten your hands on Siri by now and without a doubt, you're likely to have been blown away by it.

While we already posted a list of all things you can say to Siri, the commands it recognizes does not include sending tweets, much to our dismay. Yes, iOS 5 comes with deep Twitter integration but Siri won't send your tweets for you. Here at iPhoneism, we don't like taking no for an answer therefore we now present to you a workaround which you can use to send tweets from Siri on iPhone 4S.

Basically, what we're going to do is that first we'll set up a mobile number with Twitter so that your account can receive updates from a mobile phone, then we're going to create a new contact that has the number Twitter gives you for sending your updates from a mobile phone, on the iPhone 4S. Then all you have to do is ask Siri to send a message to that contact, with the message actually being the tweet you want to send.

Send Tweets Using Siri:

Step 1: Set up your mobile number with Twitter so that you can send updates from it. Log in to Twitter and go to Settings.

Step 2: In Settings, open the Mobile tab and follow the instructions to set up your mobile number and verify it. After that's done, Twitter will give you a number on which you can text your updates.

Step 3: Save this number as a contact on your iPhone 4S. Name it Twitter to be fairly obvious if you want. We'll name it iPhoneism.

Step 4: Now fire up Siri and say "Send iPhoneism a message, Wow I can send tweets using Siri on iPhone 4S"

Siri will compose a text to the number given to you by Twitter and the text will contain "Wow I can send tweets using Siri on iPhone 4S", and once you tell Siri to send it, the tweet will be posted on your Twitter account. As far as replying to tweets and DMs are concerned, you can try telling Siri the commands given on the Mobile tab in Twitter settings and see how it responds to that. Nevertheless, if you just want to send out tweets, this workaround functions flawlessly.

I have a contact with the first name Twitter, and phone number 40404 and it worked just fine. Said “Tell Twitter It looks like you can send Twitter messages using Apple’s Siri as well” and it flawlessly resulted in http://twitter.com/#!/ChristopherA/status/125120573838860288

There must be some other reason why you can’t save a contact named twitter.
