Dag Kittlaus, Co-founder of Siri, which is the sophisticated yet incredibly simple voice assistant system launched in iPhone 4S has resigned from Apple. Siri was originally acquired by Apple back in 2010.
Dag Kittlaus founded Siri in 2007 and sold it to Apple in 2010. Before its release with iPhone 4S, Siri was available in form of an app however the features that it offered were not near those offered by Siri on iPhone 4S. Apply has greatly advanced this artificial intelligence after acquiring it. Kittlaus's departure from Apple had been planned for quite a while and so his resignation is no surprise to the company. Kittlaus has left Apple whereas other members of the Siri team will be retaining their positions.
One of the major reasons cited for his exit from Apple is the fact that his family is based in Chicago. Other reasons cited by AllThingsD claim that Dag just wanted some time off in which he could focus on other entrepreneurial projects. Besides having worked at Motorola before starting Siri, Dag was a Entrepreneur in Residence at the Stanford Research Institute. Kittlaus has resigned merely a couple of weeks after iPhone 4S launched in over seven countries to amazing demand.
Siri is without a doubt one of the defining feature and a major difference between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. It takes commercial artificial intelligence to a whole new level. Siri is a digital personal assistant that lives inside your iPhone 4S. You can ask Siri pretty much everything and expect it to reply with the appropriate answers, sometimes even witty ones. Siri can query the web for you, set your alarms, reminders and calendar entries, read back and reply to emails and text messages and can play your favorite music for you. All you simply need to do is say out the relevant commands.
The iPhone 4S has already sold out in the seven countries it was initially launched in. Pre-orders for another 22 countries have started and shipment to these counties will begin after 2 weeks or so. The fact that Kittlaus left Apple after Siri has been exquisitely blended in the world's finest smartphone and has received an amazing response begs us to think that Dag had done the best he could with Siri and was obviously happy with it. Let's see what great new inventions Dag Kittlaus brainstorms on after resigning from Apple.
