Siri is only exclusive to the iPhone 4S right now however developers are working hard in order to port Siri over to non-iPhone 4S devices. A developer has been able to get Siri working on iPad 1 and gives sufficient picture proof to support his claim.
Siri is the intelligent, not to mention amazing, voice assistant that comes coupled with a brand new iPhone 4S. It is hands down one of the defining features of iPhone 4S as well as a major difference between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. It also servers as a strong selling point for Apple's latest iPhone which comes with no design changes at all. Nevertheless Siri is amazing on its own, as its able to do almost any task for you within its limits. All that you need to do, is speak out loud and clear. If you're a Space Odyssey fan, you can now transform Siri into HAL 9000 as well!
A couple of weeks back we reported that a developer had been able to port Siri on iPhone 4. Since then a number of videos have gone up online in which many developers show off their Siri ports for iPhone 4. However none of these devices are able to communicate with Siri's servers at Apple. It is possible to spoof servers into thinking that a non-iPhone 4S device is actually an iPhone 4S however a lot of work needs to be done before that becomes possible.
Developer @Jackoplane was able to get Siri running on his iPad 1, however as previously mentioned it does not connect with the servers.
Need we remind you that a public release of Siri port for non-iPhone 4S devices is a long way off. As of now, extensive testing is being done however it remains to be seen whether or not Siri on older devices hampers their performance when all functions of Siri, along with connection to servers, are working. Some are of the view that Apple has made Siri exclusive to iPhone 4S because it has the faster dual-core A5 processor, even if that's true, at least those who have an iPad 2 will be able to get Siri on their tablets because iPhone 4S and iPad 2 have the same A5 dual-core processor.
MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team revealed that a public Siri port will not be possible with piracy, something which the devs have never done and will never do. iH8sn0w on the other hand was of the view that a tool can be developed to transfer Siri from iPhone 4S to other devices however that would require an iPhone 4S jailbreak. Check our detailed round-up on the state of iPhone 4S jailbreak.
We'll update you more on this as it comes in. Stay tuned.
