Earlier today, Apple seeded iOS 5.0.1 firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to developers. You need to be a registered developer in order to install beta firmware however even if you're not one, this tutorial will teach you how to install iOS 5.0.1 firmware without developers account.

The problem with beta firmware is that you can not install it on a device that doesn't have its UDID registered with a developer account. In order to find more about device UDID and how to locate it, read the guide here. So if you're not a developer, not only can you not download iOS beta firmware, but you can't install it as well. We've already posted IPSW direct links of iOS 5.0.1 firmware and in this guide we'll teach you how to install iOS 5.0.1 firmware without a developers account.

FYI: We've been providing free device UDID registrations for iOS 5 beta firmware, you should try your luck out with us if you prefer to get your device registered with a developer account for free. Regardless, follow the tutorial posted down below.

How To Install iOS 5.0.1 Firmware Without Developer Account:

Step 1: Following files will be needed:

Download iOS 5.0.1 IPSW for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
Download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 for Windows and Mac
Download i-Funbox or iPhone Explorer for Windows and Mac

Step 2: Once iOS 5.0.1 IPSW has been downloaded, connect your device to the computer, launch iTunes and restore iOS 5.0.1 on your device. After installation finishes, don't proceed to set up your device just yet.

Step 3: Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 firmware using redsn0w on Windows and Mac

Step 4: After device has been jailbroken, connect it to the computer and launch the respective i-Funbox or iPhone Explorer software on your Windows or Mac computer

Step 5: Use the software to open this path:

filesystem/library/coreservices/systemversion.plist

When you locate this .plist file, copy and save it on your computer

Step 6: Now open this .plist file from the desktop using Text Editor or NotePad and delete the following key and string:

<key>ReleaseType</key> <string>beta</string>

Step 7: Save the changes and copy this .plist file back to its original location. Once copied, reboot your device. Since your device is jailbroken, you will have to do a tethered boot using redsn0w.

This is the complete procedure you need to do in order to install iOS 5.0.1 firmware without developer account. If you still face any difficulties, drop a comment down below. Do keep in mind that iOS 5.0.1 will be publicly released in a couple of weeks.

So my bosses Verizon iPhone 4S is having voice issues and he asked me to help try and fix them. If you have any more UDID slots available, where can I email you the UDID number for his phone?

    Thanks!
