For the first time since its release with iPhone 4S, Siri is facing a country-wide outage in the USA. Multiple reports suggest that Siri is down in USA. This is the first country wide outage of Siri.
Siri is Apple's revolutionary virtual assistant that takes commercial artificial intelligence to a whole new level. iPhone 4S users can communicate with Siri directly and order it to relevant tasks for them. Siri can reply and read out your emails, display traffic and weather information, write notes, set alarms as well as do a plethora of other things. All you need to do, is to speak your heart out to Siri.
It is quite the norm these days that news first breaks across the world on social networks. Sure enough, Twitter has been abuzz with iPhone 4S users claiming that Siri is down and unable to process any of their voice commands. In response to commands, Siri says:
There's something wrong, and I can't answer your questions right now. Please try again in a little while.
Interestingly, this outage seems to be limited to the USA only. As previously mentioned, Siri is down in the USA while no such reports have come in from other countries. This is Siri's first country wide outage since its public launch with the iPhone 4S on October 17.
It is possible that Siri's servers are overloaded. Previously when customers begun receiving their iPhone 4S units and started bombarding Siri's servers with queries, Apple's virtual assistant would reply back to Siri can't connect to network error, however there was a way to fix Siri can't connect to network. Now, the issue seems to be entirely different, because the aforementioned problem was faced by iPhone 4S users in a number of countries, not just those residing in the USA. This means that Siri servers of USA have possibly faced a blackout.
This isn't a good start of Siri for Apple, though we hardly doubt that this incident will give damage to the credibility of their services. However, we also know how much Apple values perfection and ease of use. Right now, someone is being yelled at in One Infinite Loop, Cupertino California. While we wait for this to be sorted out, do let us know in your comments whether or not Siri is down for you in the USA or even in any other country.
