The developer account costs $99 per year and you're not likely to spend that amount if you're just a budding beta testing wanting to try out Apple's latest iOS 5 firmware update in its beta stage. For that purpose, we have posted iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 IPSW direct download links at the end of this article.
On Friday, Apple seeded iOS 5.0.1 beta 1 to developers. iOS 5.0.1 is a minor update and does not come with any new features. The basic reason for this software update is to fix a variety of bugs that have been reported time and again by users all across the world. iOS 5.0.1 comes with conventional performance, stability and security improvements as well as the fix for iPhone 4S battery issue and the Smart Cover security code flaw on iPad 2.
As of now, no specific changelog of iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 has been posted in the Developer Portal. We will update this post as soon as it goes live. Its expected though that iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 comes with further bug fixes as many users reported that iOS 5.0.1 beta 1 still did not fix the battery drain issue on iPhone 4S.
