Apple is working hard to provide fixes to the various bugs that have been hampering user experience of iOS 5 firmware and have prevailed even after iOS 5.0.1 release. For that purpose, iOS 5.0.2 download is going to be available next week.

Earlier last week, Apple released iOS 5.0.1 firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This first iOS firmware update came merely a month after the official iOS 5 public release. iOS 5.0.1 comes with no new features, only bug fixes and performance improvements.

There's one particular bug that has been prevalent first on the iPhone 4S and then also on other supported iOS devices. We got to know about this bug when scores of iPhone 4S owners started complaining about battery drain issues. Apple quickly reacted and started reaching out to iPhone 4S owners in order to seek data from them which would help in the development of a fix for iPhone 4S battery drainage issue. The release notes of iOS 5.0.1 noted that this new update would fix battery issues however some users claimed to be facing such issues after they had upgraded to iOS 5.0.1. Now it was not only the iPhone 4S owners that were complaining, instead users also faced this battery issue on iPad and older iPhone models as well.

iOS 5 is Apple's most amazing update ever. It comes with over 200 new features that really take the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch experience to a whole new level. It was initially announced at WWDC 2011 and a day after that, the first beta of iOS 5 was seeded to developers. In all, Apple released seven betas of iOS 5 before the final iOS 5 GM build was seeded. At the iPhone 4S release event, Apple announced that iOS 5 would be released on October 12 and sure enough, the company release iOS 5 firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to the public on the aforementioned date.

The source of this information seems to be pretty certain about iOS 5.0.2 download being available next week. An unknown Apple engineer is cited to have said this and if it turns out to be true, iOS 5.0.2 will be released at the time speculated. Once again, don't expect any new features. iOS 5.0.2 firmware will probably come with the ultimate fix for iOS 5 battery drain issue.

yea, i’m seeing the battery drain after 5.0.1, but only after I had an apple store do a low level wipe of the system. My spring board had been crashing on me with seemingly no reason at first. Apple store did a wipe, and then I started seeing my battery drain a lot faster than usual. I’ve been playing where’s my water, and usually after a rigorous play session on the subway, usually 30 to 40 minutes, no sound, I’d see a drop in the battery. Maybe just a little, but enough to notice. After the wipe, I nearly lost 20 percent of the battery to the game playing, no music, no sound. That’s crazy! Ah well. Still works, no more crashes…glad to be running, but I would like my battery to last like it used to.
