Chair Entertainment has finally released an update of Infinity Blade 2, which is hopefully going to fix the crashing issue prevalent on iPod touch and first generation iPads. The update is now available for download from the iTunes App Store.
The original Infinity Blade game was demoed when Apple released the iPhone 4. It achieved phenomenal success and we knew that Infinity Blade 2 would be coming soon, and so it did. Infinity Blade 2 was demoed at the iPhone 4S release event. The second game in this popular franchise has been developed to take full advantage of the dual-core A5 processor that powers iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Playing Infinity Blade 2 particularly on these two devices is an experience never experienced before on a mobile device. Infinity Blade 2 can also be played on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and the original iPad.
A couple of days ago we reported that users were complaining about Infinity Blade 2 crashing issue. The game would crash as soon as the splash screen was displayed after it was launched from the Home screen. This issue was prevalent in iPod touch and the original iPad, particularly those devices which were heavily loaded with apps. The reason behind this issue was that these devices would run out of memory, hence causing Infinity Blade 2 crashing issue. The only temporary fix back then was to restart your device. Now with this new update, the issue no longer remains.
Several reports indicate that this update has indeed fixed the crashing issue. Infinity Blade 2 version 1.0.1 is a minor update that only comes with balance tweaks, optimization and bug fixes. No new features, modes or levels have been added. You can download the latest version of Infinity Blade 2 on your device right now if you've been facing this issue, if not, you'd probably prefer not having to download this 939 MB game all over again. Infinity Blade 2 is now priced at $9.99 and requires that your device be on iOS 3.2 firmware or any higher version.
