Micro-blogging network Twitter have released version 4.0 of their official app for iPhone and iPod touch. Download new Twitter for iPhone right now and check out the awesome new UI and features that have surfaced in version 4.0.
First and foremost, the basic change you'll notice is the new UI. It's stylish and sleeker than any previous Twitter for iPhone version. On top of that, the developers have made this app amazingly fast. The new Twitter for iPhone app not only looks amazing, but its twice as fast when compared to its predecessor. The new transitions added in between various pages supplement that feeling of the app being fast.
As far as features are concerned, you'll also noticed that the @Replies tab has been replaced by a Connections tab. You might have noticed that in the Twitter web app, the @Replies tab is not only limited to mentions now, it shows activity such as people retweeting your tweets and your new followers. The same treatment has been given to the new Twitter for iPhone app. The Connect tab will now show all such interactions and not just your mentions.
Twitter has added a new Discover tab as well where the popular trending topics are displayed. From here you can also search custom trends. Its really nice to see that trending topics have given their own spotlight in this new version.
Keep in mind that currently the new update has only been rolled out for iPhone and iPod touch. Obviously the iPad app will be updated, though its not known when that is going to happen. As of now, you can download new Twitter iPhone app from the iTunes App Store if you have an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 4.0 firmware version or higher.
