iH8sn0w has released an update of project iFaith today. The latest version, iFaith 1.4.1, now brings support to downgrade 5.0.1 iOS using saved TinyUmbrella 4.x.x, 5.x.x SHSH blobs. iFaith is only available for Windows.
Downgrade 5.0.1 iOS Using TinyUmbrella Saved SHSH Blobs:
iFaith 1.4.1 now allows you to take advantage of previously saved, not to mention useless, TinyUmbrella saved iOS 5.x.x SHSH blobs. iOS 4.x.x SHSH blobs saved using TinyUmbrella were not subject to changes made by Apple in iOS 5.0 firmware therefore if you have them saved, they're as useful as ever for downgrading purposes. To sum it up for the average joe, you can now downgrade 5.0.1 to 4.x.x firmware provided that you have SHSH blobs saved of that very firmware using iFaith. Follow this tutorial to learn how to downgrade firmware using iFaith.
What Is iFaith:
In essence, iFaith is basically a tool that grabs SHSH blobs of your device and stores them on a server for future retrieval. Apart from being an excellent SHSH blobs grabber, iFaith also allows you to stitch custom firmwares for downgrading purposes. It is not a tool that will jailbreak your device. iFaith is supported on all iOS devices except the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S as it requires a bootrom exploit to work its magic.
iFaith 1.4.1 Full Release Notes:
- Added Apple TV 4.4.4 (9A406a) support.
- TinyUmbrella iOS 4.4.x/5.x.x blobs are now accepted.
- Resolved rare DFU detection issues.
- Resolved issues with 8GB iPhone 4 Models.
- Resolved iPhone 3GS issues with factory certificates/Error 21 that occurred during restore.
- Resolved iOS Detection issues.
- Removed kill-switch that accidentally got distributed in iFaith-v1.4's public release.
- Don't expect A5 device support until a DFU bootrom exploit is publicly available.
As previously mentioned, iH8sn0w has made iFaith available exclusively for Windows users only. If you have a Mac, you're going to have to use the latest version of redsn0w to downgrade 5.0.1 iOS TinyUmbrella saved SHSH blobs. The latest version of redsn0w also makes use of TinyUmbrella saved SHSH blobs and allows you to stitch custom firmware as well. Do keep in mind though that you must have SHSH blobs saved of the firmware you want to downgrade to. If you face iTunes error 3194 during downgrade, follow this guide to fix it.
