A new report suggests that we'll see two iPads in 2012, both with improved battery lives and higher resolution cameras. We knew it wasn't long before rumours regarding the next generation iPad(s) started coming in.

Even if Apple doesn't release two iPads in 2012, there's one thing that we do know for sure. Apple will obviously release a new iPad in 2012, possibly during the month of March. DigiTimes reports that the next iPad will have double battery life as compared to its predecessor. According to this report the new iPad will have 14,000 mAH battery instead of the current 6579 mAH battery on iPad 2.

Meanwhile on the subject of Apple releasing two iPads in 2012, DigiTimes claims that one iPad will be for the high-end market and the other for mid-range market. No this doesn't necessarily mean that Apple will release the much hyped about 7-inch iPad to take on Amazon's Kindle Fire. It must be kept in mind that most rumours reported by DigiTimes never actually turn out to be true.

It's important to note here that this source claims that Apple will release these two iPads in 2012 during the Macworld/iWorld conference. Apple ended their official presence at this show two years ago and they have not announced any plans as yet to make an appearance this year. This suggested release date also contradicts the very much possible March release of new iPad(s) as Apple is likely to follow its release cycles. If you don't know, the iPad 2 was officially announced on March 2, 2011.

Regarding these two iPads in 2012, this source further reports that both models will retain their 9.7-inch form factor and will have a QXGA display with a resolution of 1,536×2,048 pixels. Dual LED light bars will also be added to brighten up the display panels of these models. Cameras will range from 5 to 8 megapixels and will be supplied by Samsung and Sony.

Earlier reports have suggested that the next iPad will be significantly thicker than the iPad 2 because of the bigger battery, better display and possibly greater onboard memory. At this point in time, we can't be sure whether or not Apple will release two iPads in 2012. All rumours should be taken with a pinch of salt. We'll let you know as soon as more credible information comes in about the possible release of two iPads in 2012.
