Only yesterday we reported that a March 2012 HD iPad 3 release is possible. However the rumour which brought this info also stated that Apple will release the iPad 4 in October 2011. We knew that it was a long shot, and now it has been confirmed, per se, that Apple is not going to launch two different iPad models in 2012.

The rumour came from DigiTimes, a publication that has a hit or miss record when it comes to rumours. Sure sometimes their predictions have turned out to be true, but mostly their predictions and rumours are downright preposterous. The March 2012 HD iPad 3 release is on the cards as it is, it was the iPad 4 release in October 2012 rumour that had us scratching our heads. John Gruber from Daring Fireball clears the confusion in his latest post. John is without a doubt a person who is very well connected with sources familiar to Apple's matters.

In his latest post he starts off with being amazed by the fact that DigiTimes has actually got the March 2012 HD iPad 3 release bit right. He's amazed because that particular report is actually true and has been confirmed by John's sources. As he reads on further, he finds the iPad 4 release in October bit and lets out a sigh of relief. Why? Because once again DigiTimes has reported a far-fetched rumour as it is known for sure that Apple does not intend on releasing two iPad models in 2012.

You can read the DigiTimes report, in its entirety, here. The report which came out yesterday reveals that March 2012 HD iPad 3 release is very likely. This isn't exactly breaking news. We know that a new iPad will come out in March particularly because Apple intends to keep up with its release cycle and the last iPad release took place on March 2, 2011. We already know that the iPad 3 will come with a quad-core A6 processor, better cameras, double battery power, and a full HD screen. It has also been reported that Apple will cut down the price of 16GB iPad 2 to $399 after the new iPad is released.

One can never be sure about these rumours, unless they come from very reliable sources such as John Gruber himself. However it is fascinating to read what DigiTimes brings to the table. Sometimes, their predictions do turn out to be true. Though this one, about the March 2012 HD iPad 3 release, isn't exactly exciting.
