WhatsApp for iOS 5 disappeared from the App Store a couple of days earlier much to everyone's dismay. Well it's back on now and is not the same any more. The new update of WhatsApp brings some new features.

WhatsApp for iOS 5 is an amazingly popular app. It is without a doubt one of the most widely used cross platform instant messenger app. The best thing about WhatsApp is that its available for a variety of platforms such as Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

Several days ago, WhatApp for iOS 5 mysteriously disappeared from the iTunes App Store. The developers of WhatsApp did not even release a statement as to why the app was taken offline. It is said that the developers had come across some security bugs due to which the app was taken down. The changelog does list performance and security improvements.

Given its popularity, many users were concerned, some even worried. While the release notes are not extensive enough to justify why the app was taken down, they do point at some interesting new features. Backgrounds can be applied to chat screens now. A new notification system for displaying internal group messages is found as well.

WhatsApp for iOS 5 can be purchased for $0.99 from the iTunes App Store. It is compatible only with iPhones, since it is a telephony app. You can use it on any iPhone that is running iOS 3.1 firmware version or higher.

I don’t have this app… So i’m a little confused about what seems to be a contradiction above…

WhatsApp is available on a wide array of Mobile phone, (eg. iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile) majority of iPhone apps (or currently know as iOS apps) are available on the many different devices that apple had (eg. iPhone, iPod Touch etc..) therefore when the author said its available for iPhone, he was just simply stating its not available on iPod Touches and other devices running iOS. This app is free for Android & Blackberry but I understand there is a trial for these 2 platforms meaning most likely you’ll have to purchase it or ads will appear. I hope this clarifys your confusion.
      Cheers.

It simply means that WhatsApp is not compatible with iPod touch and iPad, as most iOS apps are. This is strictly for the iPhone. Sent from my BlackBerry® Smartphone provided by Ufone
