iH8sn0w has seeded a new snowbreeze update. This update comes with minor bug fixes. These bugs were experienced during the 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak procedure.
A couple of days back on the eve of its second anniversary, iH8snow released snowbreeze v2.9 for 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G and iPad 1. Snowbreeze v2.9 came after months of this jailbreak tool being in beta stage. While this particular version did not bring any new features so to say, it did come with the ability to use pod2g's iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak exploit and liberate supported device.
The release notes do not take more than one tweet. Merely hours ago, Canadian iOS hacker iH8sn0w tweeted that he has seeded snowbreeze 2.9.1. The minor bugs that were fixed include one which affected iPad baseband, 06.15.00, flashing on iPhone 3G. Fixes for PAM issue have also been released in this build.
In order to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered using snowbreeze on Windows, follow our detailed guide posted here. Keep in mind that this tool is only available for Windows based computers. Redsn0w and PwnageTool are working alternatives for this software, and both are available for Mac OS X based computers.
Snowbreeze 2.9.1 can only apply 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak to A4 based devices as of now. It will not be of any use with iPhone 4S or iPad 2. Since both of these devices are based on A5 processor for which there is no working bootrom level exploit, snowbreeze is completely useless in that case. If you have an iOS device other than the two mentioned before, snowbreeze is one amazing tool to jailbreak iOS firmware through a Windows machine.
