A survey reveals that 36% of all new iPhone 4S buyers switched over from other platforms. The survey also revealed that 21% of iPhone 4S buyers opted for the 64GB iPhone 4S model.

Apple announced iPhone 4S earlier last year. The new smartphone does not come with any design changes whatsoever. There's a new dual-core A5 processor, an eight megapixel camera, 64GB memory option and iOS 5. Probably the only that thing entices iPhone 4S buyers is Siri. Apple's virtual assistant has garnered substantial consumer interest and remains a selling point for Cupertino's latest smartphone.

On Monday Consumer Intelligence Research Partners released a detailed survey report. This report contained data about iPhone 4S buyers who had opted for this smartphone after its launch last year in October. In this survey it was determined that nearly 36% of all buyers had switched over to the iPhone 4S from other platforms such as BlackBerry, Android, Nokia and Windows Phone.

Looks like introducing a 64GB model really paid off for Apple. 21% of all iPhone 4S buyers got the high-end model which retails for $849 SIM-free. Piper Jaffray also conducted a similar survey. They were able to conclude that 19% buyers opted for the 64GB model. The numbers may differ, but it clearly is a win-win situation for Apple. Let's not forget the fact that iPhone 4S is Apple's fastest selling iPhone to date.

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners also revealed that online sales of the latest iPhone decreased this time around. The primary cause behind this is the fact that Apple was able to fulfil market demand and meet pre-order requirements. After iPhone 4S launch nearly 43% of sales were made online. However at the end of 2011, online sales accounted for 33% of all iPhone 4S buyers.
